I have trained in various martial arts for over 20 years and Tai Chi is the most challenging yet rewarding martial art I have ever trained in. I started learning Sing Ong Tai Chi in 2003 after sustaining numerous injuries whilst playing competitive Rugby League and Basketball. I also developed a need for something, which would help me as a busy professional relax and de-stress.

Tai Chi improved my health significantly. I noticed my injuries healed rapidly, I developed a better range of motion in my affected areas and my body started to relax more which gave me a better sense of wellbeing. Other benefits were increased flexibility, balance, stability and overall better co-ordination.

Throughout the years of tai chi study and training, I have come across many trials and challenges, which have developed my character and skill. I am more aware of my body, my movements and my surroundings.

Tai Chi is an art that requires patience, dedication and thought. I recall one of the teachings, which is "fast is slow", "slow is fast". When learning a form it is important not to rush through every move for the sake of learning the whole form. It is better to take the time and patience to perform and master one move correctly then to execute many moves incorrectly.

I am grateful for Professor Yek’s willingness to share Sing Ong Tai Chi and impart his profound knowledge and skill with us all. As an instructor my dream is to teach you an undiluted version of Tai Chi and I look forward to seeing you at my next class.
